Hays, Kansas

For the past 4 years, we have had the fortune to be selected for the Hays Five State Photography Competition.  It is always a fun event.  The main street in Hays is decorated for the season, and many local merchants invite local artists to display their work.  The pleasant temperature this year made the evening even more enjoyable.

The following morning we were treated to a guided tour of the Saline River Valley by the local photography club founder, Jim Tanis.  Jim worked with another local artist, Alan Wamser, to treat eight photographers from the Kansas City area to a day of exploration and photography.

This trip offered an opportunity to use a new smart-phone application, Geotag Photos (http://www.geotagphotos.net/en).    Once the app is initiated, it continually records time and location.  When stopped, an email is sent with a data file that can later be downloaded and read by Lightroom.  Image metadata is updated by reconciling the image capture time with the position and time from the data file.  It worked perfectly.

Below are a few of the images from our adventure, north and east of Hays, KS.
